BringMeTheNews loves the Great Minnesota Get-Together as much as you do. The crowds, the baby farm animals, the princesses, the food and the stuff that passes for food.? Each day of the fair we?ll be watching for the very best stories and bring them here, so you can enjoy the event whether you?re eating your dinner on a stick ? or not.
Today at the Fair
It?s senior and kids day: Fairgoers age 65 and up, and kids age 5 to 12, can get in the fair for just $7 today.
Curious how many calories are in your State Fair favorites? WCCO takes a look at the bad side of the good stuff.
At the Grandstand:?Two-time Grammy winner?Marc Anthony?will cha-cha his way to the Grandstand tonight. Starting at 8 p.m., the top-selling salsa artists of all time will fill the fair with his hit singles like ?I Need to Know? and ?You Sang to Me.? Don?t expect a cameo from J-Lo, though.
Check out:?The fair is food mecca for those who don?t have a restrictive diet. But imagine those fair favorites minus the meat, cheese or butter?hard isn?t it?! Well, fair organizers are now increasing their efforts to offer alternatives for those with special food needs ? like vegans. In fact, WCCO reports there?s?a whole competition this year dedicated to vegan cuisine?? check it out at the Creative Activities Building.
And?craft brews are also getting the star-treatment?this year. WCCO-TV gives a nod to the?Ball Park Cafe?? located on the east side of Underwood Street, between Carnes and Dan Patch Avenues ? for selling a variety of great crafts including Brooklyn Center?s Surly, Stillwater?s Farm Girl and New Ulm?s Schell?s. You can try ?em one at a time or in a sampler pack (there?s Metro Transit options to and from the fair for a reason, right?)
